Drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods above the thresholds in Chapter 1.1.3.6.3 of ADR require to hold a Vocational Certificate, often referred to as an ADR licence. This is obtained by attending a Department of Transport approved course and passing the examinations held at the end of the course. The "licence" must cover the class of goods (1 - 9) carried and the form they are carried in (Packages / Bulk or Tanks). The certificate has to be renewed every five years. The "Initial" course can take from 1 - 7 days depending on the modules covered and the "Refresher" course from 1/2 - 4 days. |
